Scholarships: Support for training

• Generally under 40 years of age at the start of training; Exceptions are possible if economically necessary.
• The training is recognized and begins after compulsory school.
• Basel-Stadt is responsible based on the place of residence of the parents, a longer period of residence or a cantonal assignment.
• Vocational apprenticeships, bridging opportunities, middle schools, higher technical schools, technical colleges and universities can generally be recognized.

• Apprenticeship contract, training or study confirmation
• Tax assessments of the person in training and the parents
• Wage, pension or benefit statements
• Current bank and postal account statements
• Rental agreement and other documents required in the form

Latest date: September 30th for upper secondary level and October 31st for tertiary level. Request the form early. An application or renewal application is required for each year of training.

• The office calculates income and necessary expenses on a case-by-case basis.
• Parents' income and assets are also taken into account for people over 25.
• You will receive a written decision. A loan is interest-free during training, but is repaid and interest is paid afterwards.
